How do I invite my family?

Make a group

1. 1.If you have no group, the app asks “Did you get an invite?”. Tap “No, make a new group”.
2. 2.Give the group a name of up to 100 characters. The app suggests The family, The siblings, The cabin crew and The girls.
3. 3.Share the invite, or tap “Do it later”.
4. 4.When you share the invite, the app shows “The family can join now”, with the buttons “Post the first photo” and “Share the link again”. You get a message when someone joins.

You become the owner of the group you make. Later you tap the name of the group on Home. There you choose “Make a group”, or “Join with invite” to enter a code. skokk has no fixed limit on how many groups you can have, or how many people can be in a group.

Invite someone

Everyone in the group can invite. Tap the button with the number of members at the top right of Home. Under “Invite someone”, tap “Copy invite link”, and you get 3 choices:

• •Choose a contact. You choose one person in your contacts. Only the phone number goes to us, and only the person with that number can join. Your messages app opens with the invite, and you send the text yourself. If the phone or tablet cannot send text messages, the app opens the share menu instead. If you cancel on iPhone without sending the text, the invite stops working.
• •Copy invite link. The app copies the whole invite, with the link and the code. Paste it into a message or the family chat. Anyone with the link can join.
• •Give them the code. Each invite has a code of 6 characters, for example KX4-92P, that can be entered in the app.

The invite starts with “Join “The family” on skokk, so we can share photos with each other:”. Then comes the link, and last the code. When someone joins through your invite, you get a notification.

How the link and the code work

• •The link is skokk.no/i/ followed by a long, random code, so nobody can guess it.
• •The 6-character code uses digits and capital letters without 0, O, 1 and I, so nobody confuses them. Small or capital letters and the dash make no difference.
• •An invite works for 30 days. Several people can use a link, while an invite to a contact works one time.
• •The invite stops working when the person who made it leaves the group or is removed.
• •Whoever opens the link sees the name of the group, the name of the person who invited, how many are in it, and the initials of up to 6 of them. No photos show before you join.
• •If someone tries many codes that do not exist, they must wait before they can try again.

If the person has skokk, the link opens the app. Otherwise skokk.no shows a page with the group, the code and a button to download the app. On Android, Google Play brings the invite into the app. On iPhone, the app looks for the link on the clipboard when you open it before you sign in. If it finds no link, you can paste it or enter the code.

An invite to a phone number

When you choose a contact, we store the number with the invite. The person who has exactly that number and signs in with Vipps or confirms the number with a code joins the group at once. If the person has several such invites, the newest comes first. Others who open the same link see “The invite is for another number” and must ask for a new invite or a normal invite link.

The invited person can also tap “Decline invite”. Then the invite goes away from the app.

See what the owner and members can do

The member list shows the owner first, then the others in the order they joined. If the owner deletes their account, the member who has been in the group longest becomes the new owner.

Remove a member

The owner opens the member list, taps a person and chooses “Remove from” the group. The person loses access at once, and the group goes away from the widgets on their phone. Invites they made stop working, but their photos stay in the group until their time is up.

A removed person can only come back with a new invite made afterwards. If the person pays for the group, the group locks.

Leave a group

Open the member list, and tap “Leave” the group. You no longer see the photos, and the invites you made stop working. The photos you posted stay until their time is up, or until you delete your account.

The owner can only leave when nobody else is left in the group. Then we delete the group, all its photos and videos and their files at once.

Who sees what in the group?

• •Everyone in the group sees the names of the others, all photos and videos, the text on them and how long they stay.
• •In an unlocked group, everyone sees who likes a photo, and all comments.
• •Nobody sees whether you have seen a photo. We only use it to count new photos for you.
• •The others do not see your phone number or email address.
• •skokk has no profile pictures. The app shows the initials of your name.
